Blending Philosophies: Tao Tantra, Greek Pantheon & Witchcraft
If you’ve followed my page for any amount of time, you may have realized that my style of spirituality is blended. I walk between a few different worlds, belief systems and philosophies that are beneficial to my goal. I desire unashamed embodiment on the physical plane and transcendence to the universe. I want to walk this earth without the shackles of expectations and feel free enough to open myself up to ancient wisdom in my bloodline and the stars. The goal seems very lofty, almost impossible perhaps, but the core of it comes from blending my Greek heritage with the Tao Tantric traditions of the east.
The first cornerstone that got laid in my temple was the new age iterations of witchcraft and magic. Hidden meanings and mysteries seemed to be at my fingertips; there was no such a thing as coincidence and the stars guided our lives. My very first steps as a baby witchling were tarot and astrology and crystals. These are more mainstream now, but I entered this world right when awareness on social media started spreading about them. There weren’t 500 pages devoted to #piscessun for me to reference on my day to day, and maybe one or two reliable astrology app that I felt I got an accurate message from. I chose crystals to carry on my person with intention daily before I stepped out the door. I hoarded them in my apartment and bedroom like a dragon and drew tarot cards multiple times a week.
The openness I had to learn about more than my upbringing led me to want to learn about different perspectives on the metaphysical world. I learned about the foundational beliefs of reincarnation, soul evolution as well as how the balance of the body’s energy can interface with the energy of the universe. I learned more connecting pieces that had been portrayed as prophets and saints in my christian upbringing in a way that made it more accessible to me. This is the part of my journey where the Tao Tantra and Priestesshood merged into each other. As I learned about my intuitive capacity, I also realized that my insights were able to lead me towards my goals. The chief goal that gained tremendous traction was my desire to be unashamed of being an embodied woman, and this only happened for me when I started working with Aphrodite.
Aphrodite is such a dynamic being, she is not only a goddess of love and sex but also a goddess of war who can enact her will as needed. Her ability to shapeshift outside of what modern interpretations of her capacity and roles deeply spoke to me. What if I could also do that? What if I could also be a sensual being and still have my voice and mind respected? By becoming Her priestess, it made it much easier for the answer to those questions to be “yes”. I have woven in making offerings to Her and plan rituals on holy days (so close to holi-days isn’t it ;)) as well as act as a vessel and channel with my original beliefs of crystals and astrology and with the theme that my soul is evolving to a higher state. Aphrodite is akin to a guardian angel, she watches me and guides me in my day to day life, but the major difference is that She is all encompassing on Her own. She doesn’t answer to anyone regarding Her desires, She is not a messenger of God… she is a God(dess) into Herself. When I receive guidance or a message or an intuitive feeling from Her, I take it seriously… perhaps more seriously than I would from a traditional “guardian angel”.
As I try to convey and preach, spirituality is very diverse and it should be treated like a buffet. Some of me might not align with you, but chances are that some aspect of my message and my voice and my view on the world and beyond sparks something within you. My special blend of spirituality is intentional and it tells the story of where I've been and experience, as well as lays the foundations of where I will go in the future.
