Embodiment Tips & Announcement!
I have said embodiment a lot in prior posts. I’ve spoken about the joys I feel as being an embodied woman, the pathway it’s taken for me to openly express it online, and how the journey is not as glamorous as one might think. I wanted to share some tips and tools today about embodiment because… I have an announcement about Sage Sophia.
Don’t worry I’m not going anywhere! I’m just reinvesting my energy.
I love writing, it’s one of my greatest joys, and I also love making free resources for you to access, but at the dawn of March I need to scale back slightly. I have a tradition of posting every day in March on my Instagram (@spiritualsophia) for Mindful March where I share some of the posts I’ve been sitting on but also a view on the mindfulness that I practice day to day. Because of the effort it takes for me to post the content I'm excited about and share my intended message… I have to scale back slightly on Sage Sophia. I will still have a post go live every week, but it will now be once a week, every Tuesday. I hope you understand and get excited for the posts starting tomorrow (!!!).
As for embodiment tips and tools, my best recommendation is to practice the two way flow of communication within you: the stories you tell yourself, and listening to those stories. You may tell yourself that you're a goddess filled with divinity (spoiler I think you are), but if your body/ mind/ heart/ soul doesn’t accept that story then you can experience a disconnect and inability to embody your true self. Through embodiment work, we get closer to merging the conscious and subconscious to a state of harmony. Some of the quickest ways to kick-start that unification process is through breathwork, journaling and expressing yourself in a form of creativity.
Breathwork not only increases the amount of oxygen to the brain to suggest new neural pathways to form but it also raises your internal energy. An increase of energy is a way to consciously wire those new neural pathways, to a goal that supports your overall intentions.
Journaling is a home for your inner thoughts without the judgment we may place upon them when shared with a close friend. It can be a daily practice and something that lasts for a season or for a lifetime, whichever fits your goals. When you can form a relationship with your mind then it will be easier for you to fully love and embrace yourself. Journaling was my personal first step in that journey, because I had to learn about myself in order to make friends with and eventually fall in love with myself.
The final one being creativity is one that could be undervalued. Like journaling, expressing your thoughts through creativity can be healing. It taps into the inner child where we have infinite possibilities ahead of us along with a carefree ability to create without the perfectionism that plagues us in adulthood. Some of us may be artists in one medium or another, while others may not traditionally consider themselves artistically inclined. The beauty about creating for yourself is that there isn’t a need for perfectionism. Once you break that seal of creation it becomes easier and easier to let it seep from you and into the world around you… the first trickle in allowing your inner world to reflect your outer world as an embodied person.
